(Durée: 11-13min)
Interlocutor 1: Hello Bob how are you?
Bob: Not bad how are you?
Interlocutor 1: Very well thank you. Can I talk to you for a minute?
Bob: Sure
Interlocutor 1: Have a seat, I’ve been meaning to talk to you. I’ve notice that you’re often late this days you’ve never had trouble getting to work on time what’s happened? and what about all those days off, last month you took a day off every week. I must tell you that this had an impact on the entire team, I would like to talk about all this. Is everything alright?
Bob: Well not really.
Interlocutor 1: What’s the problem?
Bob: I don’t know it’s…
Interlocutor 1: Are there any personal problems? if that’s the case you’re aware that there are people you can talk to.
Bob: Not really
Interlocutor 1: what are your hours?
Bob: 8 to 4
Interlocutor 1: If you have trouble getting here for 8 we can change your hours.
Bob: no that’s not the problem.
Interlocutor 1: What about work, do you like what you’re doing these days?
Bob: Alright since you ask me, not really. I’ve fallen into a routine work is the same day after day, I’ve been working on the same fill with the same team for a long time, we’re getting nowhere, there’s no end to this. I’ve asked to be assigned to another fill but it was turned down.
Interlocutor: Just how long have you been working on this fill?
Bob: 18 months exactly.
Interlocutor: And how things are with the other people on the team?
Bob: Things are fine, anyway that’s not the problem. It’s just hard to stay motivated when you’re doing the same thing days in and day out.
Interlocutor: Why exactly couldn’t you get assigned to another fill?
Bob: I was told I didn’t have the right experience to work on the other fill.
Interlocutor 1: What do you mean you don’t have the right experience what’s the problem?
Bob: Actually I haven’t token the last course in project management.
Interlocutor: OK let’s see what we can do about this. First of all I’m ready to send you in training. Why don’t you start by making a list of all the courses you think you need, after all you’re a valuable member of this team. So how do you feel about this?
Bob: Just great! Thank you.
– If you were Bob, how would you have handled feeling unmotivated at work?
